Father’s Day isn’t always the easiest occasion when it comes to selecting just the right gift. Everyone wants to select a present that Dad will love, but that can be tough, since it has to be something that a child can give, yet something that he can show off to his friends and co-workers. It can also seem that Dad already has most of the things that he needs.

But there is hope! Here are a couple of fun and easy gift basket ideas to make sure that Dad gets the perfect present this year. Everyone loves getting a gift basket, and they can be customized to fit any budget. As a added bonus, your children can help put it together regardless of their age, turning the process of getting just the right Father’s Day gift into a fun family activity. These gift baskets ideas are something that he will really enjoy!

Gift Basket Idea – The Master Griller

Father’s day falls at a most auspicious time: the start of summer. This is the time when fathers everywhere get ready to fire up the barbecue grill. Most men, fathers included, love to show off their skill with a grill. A new tool set for barbecuing is a terrific gift idea, and just at the right time. Here’s how you can turn that tool set into a “Master Griller” gift basket:

To start, get a medium or large wooden basket. You can find these at any mass merchandiser, most supermarkets, and many craft stores.

Next, purchase the barbecue tools, such as a spatula, tongs, grill brush, and fork. You can buy a barbecue set or purchase some tools individually.

Then pick out some spices and sauces that you know Dad likes. If you aren’t sure, try seasoning salt, steak sauce, or Hickory sauce.

Next you will need some green plastic grass, like the kind commonly used in Easter baskets. Fill the bottom of the basket with this. If you are having trouble finding plastic grass after Easter, shred up some tissue paper for the same effect.

To make the basket more fun and add an extra gift, add a cute stuffed animal. A teddy bear works fine, but don’t rule out a different animal, like a plush dog or stuffed tiger, so long as it is masculine.

Finally, a handmade card from the kids can give the basket a personal touch.

You are now ready to assemble your basket. Start by lining the bottom of the basket with your Easter grass or shredded paper. Next, arrange your items in the basket, starting with the largest items first. Place the teddy bear or other stuffed animal in the center of the basket and arrange the tools around it. Feel free to use wires or string to hold the grilling tools in place. You can put the smaller items, like the seasonings and sauces wherever there is room in the basket. The card would look great in the arms of the teddy bear or plush animal, or you can have the kids hand Dad the card themselves. Now you have the perfect gift for the father who loves to grill.
